The Social Network

Just back from seeing The Social Network. One of my all time favourite movies about a college guy establishing a social networking website!

Though it be not a comedy, 'tis comedic nonetheless. Mark Zuckerberg's total disdain for - well, pretty much everyone - makes for some very amusing dialogue.

Anyway, I though I'd do a quick sketch of Jesse Eisenberg, who plays the lead role. It's a bit of a work in progress, but I'm really not good with progress so this might be as far as it goes.

DIGITAL CARICATURE - DAVID SCHWIMMER

Seems almost as though every time I turn on the telly these days there's a new channel playing episodes of some-one-thing-or-if-not-perhaps-another.

And what better to rerun than Friends?

In honour of which - here's tonights painting ...

DIGITAL CARICATURE - MIKEY ROBBINS

My second attempt with the new graphics tablet ... Mikey Robbins.
This was a real bugger for me. I chose Mikey because I thought he'd be easy to caricature - but I had real trouble getting a likeness. I'm reasonably happy withe end result - but gee willakers I redrew it a lot.

DIGITAL PAINTING - STEPHEN FRY

I received a graphics tablet from my parents on Saturday - a belated birthday present.

I thought I'd give it a go last night and came up with this caricature of that bard of badinage - Stephen Fry.

I'm happy enough with it as a first attempt at using a tablet.

Yet more caricatures

Yes - I've been at it again. I ebb and I flow. For the time being the current ebb is caricaturing - so here you'll find the latest of those that I'm not too embarrassed to display.

First up - here's my Jack Black ...

... and here's my soon to be sister-in-law Jo. I sketched this for her 30th birthday card, then scanned it into photoshop for colouring. Not something I've tried before, and not a great result but I'm happy enough for my first effort ...

... after an interesting week in politics, here's our ex Treasurer and now Deputy PM, Wayne Swan. Which reminds me, I wrote to him some time ago about an issue I have with our tax legislation, I'm I've still not had a response. Useless bastard!

I made two attempts at alleged funnyman Peter Helliar, but I'm not happy with either. I think I prefer the first ...

I saw Pauley Perrette on Good News Week recently, and I though she was quite cute, so here she is as Abby from NCIS ...

I was astounded by Dermott Brereton's hair on The Footy Show recently, which somehow led me to draw him with less astounding hair...

And finally, this Nicholas Cage is not quite there as a likeness, but I still liked it as a picture ...

Hamish & Andy, Masterchef

I really should just allow this blog the death that it deserves, but every so often I do something that I'm a little bit proud of and I can't help showing off.

What am I proud of? (I hear you ask)

Why, my new drawings of course.

Please would you peel back your eyelids and feast your peepers on these little jim-dandies that fell from my leaden pencil in recent days.

First up, that inimitable radio duo. The one with dreamy eyes, the other with a dreamy girlfriend.

Hamish Blake and Andy Lee ...

And while I've got you feasting - snack upon this tasty morsel of reality cheffery. With the magic of digital technology I have combined some spanking new caricatures of the toad like Gary and the Charlie Brown-esque George with my previous effort at the cravatted Matt Preston. And so I give you - Masterchef.

That will be all. Return to your goings about.
